Clinical Supervision for Counsellors & Psychotherapists

Clinical Supervision

Why supervision matters and why the relationship with your supervisor matters more.

Effective supervision is something that separates competent practice from excellent practice. Most therapists know this in principle, but it's not always easy to find a supervisory relationship that can deliver it.

Proper qualification and good experience matters when you're choosing a supervisor, but the real difference is always in the quality of the relationship, the foundation that enables helpful challenge that underpins professional growth, and feeling your supervisor understands you and the way you work.

That's what I try to bring to the therapists I supervise.

What I offer.

Individual and group clinical supervision for qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, and trainees working toward Level 4 qualification as a minimum. I'm based in Maidstone, Kent, but sessions are generally held online via Zoom.

I have over 15 years experience in private practice, I hold a Level 6 CPCAB qualification in clinical supervision, and I'm a professional member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.

My core training was integrative, so I'm comfortable working with supervisees from most therapeutic modalities — person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT-informed, and others. Whichever approach you use, we can talk about whether we're a good fit before committing.

Special areas of professional interest.

Beyond general integrative supervision, I have specific experience and interest in:

Neurodivergent practice — As an AuDHD therapist, I'm particularly well placed to supervise therapists who are neurodivergent, who work with neurodivergent clients, or who are navigating the particular challenges of being a neurodivergent practitioner.

Addiction and substance use — I co-host Sideways, a long-running podcast focused on mental health and addiction, and this work sits at the centre of my professional identity. If you're working with clients around addiction, dependency, or substance use, I bring both clinical grounding and genuine engagement and understanding.

EAP and workplace counselling — I have extensive experience as an EAP counsellor, which gives me an understanding of the particular pressures and ethical landscape of workplace-referred work.

My Approach.

I work primarily from three models, using them interchangeably depending on what you need:

The Seven-Eyed Model — a relational framework that attends to the full range of influences on the therapeutic work, including what happens in the supervisory relationship itself.

The Integrated Developmental Model (IDM) — particularly useful for tracking where a supervisee is in their professional development and calibrating the level of support and challenge accordingly.

Inskipp and Proctor's Normative, Formative and Restorative framework —  useful as an organising structure for ensuring supervision covers all three of its core functions: accountability, professional development, and the wellbeing of the therapist and client.

In practice, I'm less interested in applying a model mechanically than in having an honest, rigorous conversation about your work and professional aspirations.

My expectations of you.

I'm happy to work with:

  • Qualified counsellors and psychotherapists at any career stage
  • Trainee therapists working toward a Level 4 qualification or above
  • Practitioners working in private practice, EAP, or voluntary sector settings
  • Therapists with a particular interest in neurodivergence or addiction

I'm not able to supervise:

  • Work with children and young people (I don't hold a relevant qualification)
  • Any specialist clinical areas outside my experience — please mention any specialist caseload in your first enquiry so we can assess fit honestly

All supervisees must hold membership with a recognised professional body such as NCPS, BACP, or UKCP.

Session structure.

I offer 60 or 90-minute sessions of one-to-one supervision at intervals to be agreed according to your needs.

Fees.

Standard rate - £60 per hr

Concessionary rate - £50 per hr (for trainees or low-paid/unpaid volunteers)

Group rate - £30 per hour
