How Can Hypnotherapy Help?
If you are looking for professional hypnotherapy in Kent then I can help. I am a fully qualified Hypnotherapist and Professional member of The National Hypnotherapy Society and General Hypnotherapy Register having completed my training with distinction. I am also registered with the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
There are a lot of misconceptions around hypnotherapy which often centre around questions such as, “Can everyone be hypnotised?” and “You won’t make me cluck like a chicken will you?”. My answers to these questions are always the same, “Yes” and “Only if you want me to”
Hypnotherapy is a treatment which has existed since over 1000 years BC and can be extremely successful in treating a whole range of debilitating and life limiting conditions including;
- Anxiety
- Sleep Problems and Insomnia
- Stress
- Phobia
- PTSD & Trauma
- Weight Loss (as part of an integrated strategy)
- Stop Smoking
- Addiction
So what is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is simply an altered state of consciousness in which your mind is more open to suggestions and directions made for your benefit. Everyone can achieve a state of hypnosis. Did you ever drive somewhere and arrive thinking to yourself “I don’t remember that journey” because you were thinking about something else? Did you ever daydream? That’s hypnosis, and everyone does it.
Can you make me do something I don’t want to?
Hypnosis is not a “dark art”. Nobody can make you do something you don’t want to do, nobody controls you and there are no side effects (apart from often feeling incredibly relaxed afterwards).
Hypnosis is not something done “to you”, rather it is a process which helps you to access the tools and resources you already have. So, it’s no good seeking hypnosis if you don’t really want to change a habit but feel that you should. Hypnosis is incredibly effective when you really want change but doubt your ability to make it happen and sustain it.
Can hypnosis fix everything?
As I have a training in Counselling and Hypnotherapy I am able to use the most effective and appropriate tools for each particular issue. That’s important because the wider the range of options you have available to you, the more effective and sustainable your progress will be.
I am bound by a strict code of ethics, so I will never tell you that hypnotherapy can help you with something if I don’t believe that it can. I have seen some wild and highly questionable claims made by hypnotherapists, so I would urge you to make sure you work with someone who has sound professional credentials, will discuss any aspect of the work with you, and most importantly, will reassure you that hypnotherapy is a very traditional and straightforward therapy.
The purpose of hypnotherapy is to break unhelpful thought patterns and replace them with those which are more helpful and constructive.
There are any number of issues that can benefit from hypnotherapy, and I can teach you techniques for self hypnosis meaning that you will have the tools to help yourself in the future when our work together is complete.
Hypnotherapy can really bring about rapid change, so if there is something you need help with please do get in touch and ask any questions you might have.
